How To Live A More Fulfilling Life: Creating A Mini Weekend Vibes During The Work Week

I was walking with a friend after work today, and she mentioned something that got me thinking: her after-work hours are a mini weekend.

So, instead of spending the work week thinking about or wishing for the weekend, she tells herself that the time after work is a weekend break before work the next day. I love that mindset. What a shift that thinking can have on your life.

Living Every Day With The Weekend Spirit

Imagine what you would do each day if you saw every evening as a weekend. You would no longer feel compelled to out off fun times, social activities or projects for the seemingly too-short weekend. Instead, you might schedule an exciting, relaxing or nourishing week of activities.

On Monday night, you might host a sip and paint with friends. On Tuesday evening, you can have a TV show marathon of a few of your favourite TV series episodes. Maybe you will go to that restaurant on Wednesday after work and enjoy a nice meal and drink. Thursday evening, you might spend some time on that project you’ve been putting off for months now. Or you can do a creative activity or spend a night gaming. The ideas are endless.

It doesn’t even have to be anything fancy or grand. Simply changing up your routine a bit can help. Instead of hitting the gym, do an outdoor workout or hike. Take one hour from your evening to do something you usually reserve for the weekend and change the entire feel of your evening and mindset about the week.

Every day becomes a time of enjoyment, self-care and leisure. You can even ditch any activity for the evening besides the necessities and go to sleep early. Start the next day rested and rejuvenated.

Mini Weekend Vibes: Activities To Add To Your Work Week

  • Schedule a friend date.
  • Eat a nice restaurant.
  • Attend a fun workshop.
  • Have a TV series marathon (it’s easier to fit in four episodes than four movies.)
  • Go somewhere different. Change up the scenery and explore a bit.
  • Host a game night.
  • Go to the spa.
  • Cook a nice meal and make a mocktail or cocktail.
  • Watch a movie at the cinema or a play at the theatre.
  • Treat yourself to ice cream or some other dessert.
  • Have a dance party.
  • Work on a creative hobby or start on your at-home project.
  • Browse your library, book store or music store.
  • Visit a museum.
  • Go to bed early.
  • Host a virtual or in-person readathon with friends.
  • Take a long drive or walk.

I’m sure there are a lot more activities you can include during your week. Life is for living and enjoying, not procrastinating and holding off on life.

Doesn’t that sound like a great way to live a more fulfilling life? No more putting off anything for the near or distant future. It’s about making each day feel a little magical and getting a start on living your best life.
